This is a very creative and highly engaging story, using characters from the author’s short story collection Spilt Milk, which I must also highly recommend.
Cassidy has great literary talent that shows in her writing, characterisation and plotting.
The Plucker is the story of a woman with some form of OCD, her behaviour is deifnitely on the edges of obsessive and compulsive, her habits include eye brow plucking. The author does an excellent job at portraying the thought processes, the behaviour and feelings of her subject. I started to identify with the woman and feel that he book has taught me something, not just about OCD but about the human condition.
Written with compassion and deep psychological insight, this is a very rewarding and recommendable read, powerful and very addictive. I read the book in one sitting.
D.K. Cassidy scribbles daily in various genres including Magical Realism, Urban Gothic, Science Fiction and Literary Fiction. Her goal? Messing with your mind by transforming the voices in her head into odd stories.
D.K. Cassidy lives in the Pacific Northwest with her greatest fans: her husband Mark, twin sons Aidan and Jared, and three cats. When not writing, she loves to travel, run, knit, use the Oxford comma, and of course read!
