From the pen of one of my favourite authors comes a rivetting thriller with explosive tension, heart break and excellent twists.
It’s hard to describe the enormous value of this book without giving away plot twists and some of the surprises that hit me so hard while reading this book.
Irma is a lawyer who takes on the seemingly hopeless case of her ex-boyfriend, a surgeon on trial. Set in the world of heart transplants the book touches on many deeper issues and philosophical questions related to organ donation.
Woven into this are complex characters and strange personal developments between the characters that come together in a truly unbelievable denouement. Mahurin never lets up the tension and drama, pushes us to think about ethics and surprises us with facts and connections I never saw coming.
Fast paced, engaging and thought-provoking, informative on a medical level and satisfying on an emotional level this is Mahurin at her best. While I perferred her historical novels in the past, I feel the medical thriller genre has found a new kid on the block to watch out for.
Highly recommended.
