I don’t normally subscribe to the St Valentine’s Day fuzz; the cynical me thinks that it’s all a commercialised shambles.
But, my friend Victoria Dougherty asked me to write an essay about love earlier this month and it really got me in the right frame of mind.
After all my thinking and writing, my message for the day is this:
Yes, it’s all profit making for florists, restaurants and card sellers (and who can blame them, we all need the cash!) BUT it can also serve as a useful reminder that we mustn’t take the ones we love for granted. So what if it’s just a small gesture due to peer and cultural pressure?
It can’t hurt. So today, whether you are single or in a relationship, hold on to your loved ones and show them you appreciate them.
Wishing you all a lovely day with your loved ones, your pets, your friends and neighbours, your blow-up dolls, your knitting needles and whoever makes you happy and make sure they know how much they mean to you.
Group and individual hugs to all of you (and someone especially)!
