This book is a truly dark and harrowing thriller, certainly not for the faint-hearted. It concers the serious issue of violence against children. I assumed the fifty-eight year old Dr David Galbraith from the sub-title was a police officer solving the sadistic crimes, but boy was I wrong.
The seemingly nice child psychiatrist is in truth a paedophile with a soundproofed basement, leading a double life, and Nicholl makes us watch in horror as Galbraith plots and executes his evil doing while the police have a hard time nailing him down.
This is a powerful and spellbinding read.
If you like it dark and can handle the subject matter, this should not disappoint.
