>>>Happy Passover to all my friends and acquaintances in the country and the world>>> Pâque heureuse à tous mes amis et connaissances dans le pays et le monde
My Passover Story: Years ago I was flying to Irael with work. At Immigration I was held back for some obscure reason and discreetly and politely put into a holding area.
The security alert at the time was very high.
Our employer had asked that we all stay together from plane to hotel, but I was one of the last to go through Immigration and could only attract the attention of my immediate manager, who stayed with me while the authorities established that I was kosher.
We were treated very kindly I must say, and we accepted our fate, went to work and waited for the issue to be resolved.
Our big leader however saw the end of his busy day and a drink in the hotel bar, and he was most displeased about this awkward delay. He sent ground staff to look for us and ‘sort it out’, which angered Immigration and probably delayed my release by a few hours instead of accellerating it. In the end, the big boss decided not to bother waiting and – against instructions – ordered the bus to go to the hotel without us two. Our company and us as representatives were considered a target for the terrorists and so a member of the airport staff extended his long working day on this public holiday to drive us all the way to the hotel to ensure our safety. What a kind gentleman indeed.
Karma (or teshuva) bit my big boss in the backside that day when he entered the hotel bar in search for his long awaited beer and was told that it was Passover and no beer would be served. In fact, he hated all the food served and bemoaned his unlucky stars.
Passover commemorates the liberation of the Jews from slavery in Egypt and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses. I, too, was liberated that day, and it definitely was a bad day for an unjust ruler.
Happy Passover to those who celebrate!
