Built as Hitler’s showpiece of Nazi Germany’s new power, used during the blockade by the USSR to provide food and keep WestBerlin alive before reopening as a commercial airport.12341421_10153143897486035_2211701631372594144_n

Closed less than 10 years ago, and instead of becoming a major exhibition centre generating revenue for the City of Berlin, it was decided to transfer the hangars into a shelter for 2700 refugees!
Not many airports can say they were a central part of so many major historical events of not only the 20th century, but now also the early 21st!

If you want to help, you can donate money to Rando’s gofundme campaign.

Supporting his campaign is money well spent. No overhead costs, everything is transparent and your money goes directly to the refugees.

Londoners can also donate clothes and other useful supllies, which are stored before being ‘muled’ over to Berlin. 12278763_10153129310976035_2121543993755429732_n

Read here about his hands-on humanitarian work for the refugees in Europe. To catch up, read my article about his gofundme page

12271205_10153124241826035_1547184021_oHe keeps collecting clothes and anything that the refugees can use, from toothbrushes to socks and other supplies and then sends them over to Germany in the “Berlin Air Bridge 2015” side of his activities. He also keeps flying to Lesbos at other times to help more hands on. Supporting his campaign is money well spent. No overhead costs, everything is transparent and your money goes directly to the refugees.
