Christmas Grotto 2015 – Books – Promise of Mercy by Kurt D. Springs

Christmas Grotto

Today the featured book is Promise of Mercy the second of the Dreamscape Warriors Novels by Kurt D. Springs.  I have also included the first in the series The Price of Vengeance with one of its many excellent reviews. Great gifts for Scifi, action and adventure fans.

About the book

51MtlW6coEL._UY250_Deirdre watched as Marisa turned and looked at her. She was shocked when she saw the child in her enemy’s arms. The Gothowan woman turned away to shield the child. Deirdre saw the child’s face. The child was looking right at her. Her expression was more curious than frightened. Deirdre knew she could take the fugitive without touching the child. She reoriented her aim, and her finger began to tighten.

It is twenty-five years after the events of Price of Vengeance. Deirdre and her sisters have returned to their home planet of Etrusci after completing their training with the Finnian Shock Forces. Their homecoming plans are disrupted when their mother, High Priestess Celinia, and other leaders of the clergy are taken hostage and their father, Colonel Liam O’Connor, disappears.

In their desperate search for their father, they discover that the Rebellion is secretly building weapons that could end civilization as they know it. Meanwhile, Liam has been befriended by a Rebel war criminal, a woman Deirdre has sworn to kill. Will Deirdre cast herself into the role of judge, jury, and executioner, or will she discover the promise of mercy?

Does Vengeance Always Carry a Heavy Price? By Patricia Scholes on April 29, 2014 Format: Kindle Edition2 of 2 people found this review helpful

Liam is a soldier. And he’s the last of his family. He’s extraordinarily agile and can “step out of time,” which makes him very hard to kill. Because he’s a head shorter than everyone else in his community, he has had more than his share of ridicule.

Adopted by another family after the deaths of his parents by chitin, large insect-like creatures, he then finds that their deaths was, instead, murder, and those responsible have also killed his adoptive parents. He wants vengeance.

But vengeance carries a price that he may or may not be willing to pay.

Kurt Springs takes us through an action-filled adventure of villains and monsters, of kindness and redemption, and searches the human soul for motives that transcend our tendency toward “getting even.” Does vengeance carry a price? Does it always carry a price?

Liam, separated from the rest of the community, and with knowledge that the community needs if it is to survive the assault of the chitin, fights his way past one group of chitin after another. He enjoys very little rest as he fights his way to get back to his community.

This is an exhilarating story, full of action and adventure, and with no assurance that everything will turn out all right, even into the very last battle. Once started, this book is hard to put down. You will want to add this book to your library so you can read it again and again.
