Cupcake Cutie“Cupcake Cutie: (Plus Size Romance Series)” by Lynn Cooper is a breath of fresh air for many reasons. The obvious being that we deal with a romantic lead in a Plus Size, not another body fascist anorexic ‘perfect’ heroine. Discriminated against and used to it, even though her plus size is ‘legitimate’ due to an illness, our heroine Ella doesn’t have to explain those reasons to handsome Decker when he rescues her and asks her out. The knight in shining armor (although with some complications) is a true gent whose appeal lies not just in his sexiness but also in the fact that he stands up for her.

Now all that ‘politically correct’ aspect aside: The story reads smoothly, is very entertaining for the characters and the dialogue and is damn romantic, full stop. Absolutely lovely and enjoyable this should do very well with romance readers in all shapes and sizes. At times the story is sexually explicit but it is definitely a romance, and a very good one. Get it!

Lynn about her book:

“The idea for this series came to me a couple of months ago.  I was doing some research for another story and stumbled upon some upsetting data—information that shocked me despite my having a subconscious awareness of the issue.  My beloved romance genre is sorely lacking stories that feature plus size heroines.  As a writer and an avid reader of all romance subgenres, I, too, bought into the fantasy of the perfectly-proportioned heroine as well as the delicate waif.  Although there is nothing wrong with having slender female characters, I think it’s important to have heroines that “real” women can relate to.  Fantasy is nice, but being able to see yourself as a part of that fantasy is truly special.  And that’s what I want to do for my female readers.  I want them to see that there are hot, sexy heroes who are perfectly capable and more than willing to take on a full-figured gal.  Men who desire women that can fill their hands as well as their hearts.

Although I wrote this series with bigger gals in mind, it is not my wish to alienate any potential reader of a slimmer stature.  First and foremost, the theme of Cupcake Cutie is love.  The book explores key elements of the human condition and focuses on a budding romance between two incredible people—something everyone can relate to.

Ella Skye is looking for a fresh start in the town of Pleasant View—a place where she can concentrate on her career as a graphic designer.  She isn’t looking for love or passion.  She doesn’t need the raging flames of desire that always flicker into heartbreak.  She also doesn’t need a nosey neighbor with a temperamental cat, a hot cowboy who moonlights as a fireman or a stubborn friend who insists on dragging her into awkward social situations.  Ella doesn’t need any of it but, in time, she just might realize she desperately wants all of it and more.

Decker Wyman spends all of his time working on his family’s ranch.  When he isn’t there, he’s fighting fires and rescuing those in distress.  For him, romance has been fleeting at best.  In fact, he has all but given up on lasting love—the kind his parents shared.  When the new woman in town finds herself in a precarious situation, Decker is there to give her a hand.  He wants to give her a lot more than that, but things in his personal life are rather complicated and prove to be a hindrance.  The question begs:  is he willing to do whatever it takes to simplify them? Especially if it means he might have a chance with the smart, sweet and sexy Ella Skye?
